Spanish/American multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Alexa Dark is back with her new single, Villain. It has a classic 60s feel and draws influences from artists such as Nancy Sinatra and Portishead. You almost think you’re in a James Bond movie sometimes. The vocals are strong and accentuate the lyrics to perfection.

Thematically, this song is very interesting. It’s about coming to terms with the possibility that you’re the antagonist in your own narrative.

Mateo Marquez (Verité, Maude Latour) directed the mesmerizing music video for Villain, starring Dark in a stylishly alluring, murderous fantasy. It aims to convey the concept of becoming the ‘villain’ that’s reflected in the three-minute-long track In a mysterious dive bar, Dark plays the role of femme fatale spy whose mission is to allure and poison her lover. The video plays with the concept of time, depicting Dark’s tempting dance as well as portraying her internal battle with what she must do and the villainous path she has chosen to take.
