Ahead of their forthcoming EP Honeymoon Phase, Dutch Neo-Soul-meets-Electronic-Pop quartet Dragonfruit release their striking single Flashing Lights. A blend of analogue synthesizers, swinging beats, and dappled electronics highlights the expansive soundscape and euphoric groove that the band have become renowned for. With silky, effortlessly charismatic lead vocals, the track’s commercial shines as brightly as the rich, swelling instrumentation. Intricate and captivating.
The lyrics of Flashing Lights are well-written, and many will be able to relate to them. They speak about club culture and nightlife. When you’re partying, you just feel so free, as everything is possible. Impulsive actions, for example, can result from it.
Dragonfruit remain one of those bands that never loses their uniqueness. Flashing Lights fascinated me with its timeless quality. You could listen to it one hundred times and still discover something new every time.
