Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Casey Moon transcends genres in his music. He recently released a new EP entitled Ashes, along with its lead single distance. The song contains a number of interesting sonic elements that serve the vocals well. Since the chorus is so catchy, it’s my favorite section.
Taking inspiration from the film, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Ashes explores the terror of being in the midst of self destruction when you wake up suddenly. You might feel like you’re in too deep, stuck in your own mess, as habits can creep up on you. In the movie, it’s all about memory, the power of forgetting, and the dangers of not moving forward. Lyrically, this is expressed throughout the album.
Despite being just one part of the story Casey tries to convey, distance stands out on its own. Check it out below!
