New music from UK singer-songwriter Eiza Murphy has finally arrived. Conman hits all the right notes. It features verses that build up unconventionally, and a bridge that uses a fun gospel sample. The vocals, especially when accompanied by piano, are compelling. Eiza also raps on this song, which I found to be very cool.
Conman tells the story of being deceived and left feeling emotionally unavailable. Eiza wrote it in fifteen minutes while her sister had friends over. She sang very quietly so they wouldn’t hear, and basically just word-vomited the whole song into the mic.
