Pieternel is an Amsterdam-based singer whose music falls into four categories: americana, country, folk, and pop. Her latest single, Underneath This Skin, features organic instrumentation. I enjoy its smooth flow and unexpected twists. In particular, the guitars are impressive here, as they represent Pieternel’s courage to live her life as she wants. The beat, however, shouldn’t be forgotten since it gives the song layers of extra depth.
