Julia Mandoki is a walking closet of archetypes. She recently shared Portal as part of her debut album. It begins with a psychedelic folklore interlude and a strange soundcape, quite AURORA-esque, before transforming into something more alt-pop. I love how things unfold throughout.
The lyrics are quite abstract and spiritual, but they clearly circle around themes of birth, consciousness, identity, and life in general. You need to listen more than once to really understand what’s being said.
