Shelly Peled is a dark electro-pop artist who constantly evolves. Bruises, from her latest EP, Not Every Love Song Is Soft, is defined by a striking palette of cinematic textures. I love its heavy bass, for example. The vocals are theatrical, fitting right into the overall ambiance.
Bruises talks about missing someone who hurt you, replaying memories, and still hoping they’ll come back and make things right. There’s a lot of vulnerability in wanting them to “see your scars,” own the pain, and choose you again.
