West London-based artist Mari Dangerfield creates quirky, colourful alternative/electronic pop music. Her latest single, Ruins, features cinematic arrangements that instantly take the listener on a journey that’s at once familiar and unexpected. Rich vocal harmonies define the soundscape and elevate it even further.
In case you didn’t know it already, Ruins is part of Mari’s forthcoming EP, Eco-Fever, in which she explores the anxieties and feeling of helplessness that come along with climate change. This song attempts to illustrate the dissolution of a relationship using metaphors such as melting ice caps and collapsing buildings (much like what one might expect during floods and fires, aggravated by the effects of climate change). Its story unfolds strikingly.
