Emily Magpie shares lead single She Said from her EP She. Its production possesses experimental touches, but is also catchy enough to appeal to a wide audience. I’m particularly fond of the drumming here, as it makes the sound more groove-oriented. There are also pleasant layers of synth, guitar, and piano throughout.
She Said explores Emily’s relationship with the women in her life and the joy and power they provide. She says feminine energy is badass, and it has a long history of suppression, which should be known. The lyrics Emily wrote are incredibly inspirational and uplifting.
