Hope DeLuca is a rising singer-songwriter from Massachusetts. Protagonist contains wonderful guitar melodies that remain quiet while maintaining their character. There are also some other atmospheric elements scattered throughout. You’ll feel as if you’re in an ethereal world for two minutes. DeLuca’s vocals are well-balanced, ensuring the lyrics don’t get lost.
Protagonist focuses on heartbreak, jealousy, and feeling like an afterthought. It’s one of DeLuca’s favorite songs she has ever written/produced, and it’s coincidentally the first single off of her debut album, which will be released in chapter segments in coming months.
