Moss wrote Shake the Ground when she suffered from profound depression. Despite depression being a lifelong companion, she doesn’t see it as inherently good or bad. What helps her get through the difficult times is recognizing the difference between resisting the pain and acknowledging it. It’s often worse to ignore the pain than to push it away.
