Lila wrote Deep End when she was just 18 years old. At the time, she had been going through an irregular period where she had difficulty coming up with new music. Deep End proved to be one of the most emotional songs she has penned to date, yet it flowed surprisingly easily once she started. Rather than planning how she wanted the song to turn out, she simply sang about how she saw things.
Deep End tells the story of recognizing when you’re spiraling into a dark place mentally but being powerless to pull yourself back out. The lyrics give voice to feeling overwhelmed, anxious and alone. The instrumentation helps to highlight the raw emotion in Lila’s voice.
