Love Alexa’s latest single, Bardot, sounds like an ode to a failed threesome on the surface, but at its core it’s really about heartbreak and bruised ego. The title refers to French actress Brigitte Bardot, a female icon who embodied a carefree sensuality. Similar to Bardot in her heyday, Alexa felt happy and free. Now she’s left questioning where that magic went. Alexa successfully complements the lyrics with dreamy melodies and steady rhythms.
While the story focuses on a racy scenario, the emotions are universally relatable. Most people have experienced feeling left out or not good enough at some point. Alexa taps into those vulnerable feelings so wonderfully.
