Meera Naz is a singer-songwriter of South Asian descent. She just released her eagerly awaited debut EP, Volume One, and I strongly urge you to pause whatever you’re engaged in at this moment. Meera’s style can be termed extraordinary, as she weaves together contemporary pop and R&B tones with the enduring spirit of classical Indian tunes. This unique fusion of genres distinguishes her music from today’s mainstream scene, making it both captivating and refreshing.
The project’s opening track, No Hero, uses infectious rhythms, similar to those on Stromae’s Multitude. They provide a trance-like backdrop for Meera’s soulful vocals. There was a Time offers several creative structural changes, which give it an extra layer of charm. Its melodic guitars sound also impressive. Truth Is elicits some cool atmospheric vibes, giving the impression that you’re floating. The EP concludes on a beautiful note with an instrumental piano version of No Hero. This choice may seem odd, but it definitely works.
Volume One reveals the essence of Meera’s vision with emotive lyrics and hypnotic production that stirs the soul. She’s pioneering a new movement, and you’re going to want to say you were one of the first to discover her. Doesn’t that sound amazing? You probably know the answer already.
