LA-based singer-songwriter deegie, whose real name is Anne DiGiovanni, penned Third Time’s a Charm (Tom) after rediscovering old journal entries about an on-again, off-again ex named Tom. “We broke up and got back together three times, even though I thought it was only twice. He was a classic commitment-phobe and I just couldn’t stay away,” she explains.
The drums and guitar chords drive the song forward with energy as Deegie’s vocals cut through crisply. The juxtaposition of the poppy sound and heartfelt lyrics works well together.
