Dutch singer-songwriter Nina June shares her latest single, Savannah. The track features enchanting indie-folk instrumentation that unfolds slowly, but in a hypnotic way. Notably, around the 02:25 mark, the sound veers off into unfamiliar territory. The vocals are ethereal, floating over the background like luminescent fireflies.
In Savannah, Nina shares a personal narrative. There was a time in a previous chapter of her life when she was left for another woman. Recently, she has come to understand the significant influence this woman, whom she has never met, had on the trajectory of her life. This song represents her lyrical encounter with this woman. However, more importantly, it shows how resilient she is.
