Alanna Matty is a musician, producer and partnered Twitch streamer from Canada. In her new single, Serotonin, she confronts her own feelings. It’s pretty obvious that she isn’t feeling herself and tries to make sense of things. Matty delivers the lines, “I’m on a hunt for serotonin” / Feels like I’ve left all mine behind” during the chorus, which suggests she wants to go back to happier times.
The production is sparse, but textured nonetheless. It’s primarily the vocals that provide direction and add color to the ambiance. Matty utilizes techniques similar to those used by Phoebe Bridgers and Lizzy McAlpine.
