Vancouver-based singer-songwriter/activist and funny person Haleluya Hailu tries out an unusual pop direction in her latest single, heavyweight. Its guitar melodies roll brilliantly over the rhythmic backup. An up-tempo atmosphere lifts the chorus out of shadows. The vocals are outstanding, accentuating each lyric to emphasize what is being said.
heavyweight talks about the worst kind of breakup: a friendship breakup. It can be very painful, since the person meant a lot to you. But now that they have taken their own way, it’s time to let the friendship go. And yes, that isn’t an easy task.
