Irish singer-songwriter Carrie Baxter releases her new single, Roses. She reflects on the complexities of a turbulent connection punctuated by fleeting moments of affection, confusion, and unmet expectations. The opening lines “Smokin 10 a day, Tryna find my feet again” implies that she’s dealing with stress or anxiety. The mention of praying points to that she’s looking for solace or guidance.
Roses has disco and R&B instrumentals that melt like butter. I love the key structure here, but the deep bassline also appeals to me. The vocals sound like they hail from the oh-so-cool 1980s. The chorus bounces so well.
Baxter has reinvented herself. Roses binds you to its tempo and never lets go. Check it out below!
