With You’re Mine, Canadian artist Mary Jeans delivers another strong record. Its lyrics show a relationship where love is intense but potentially overwhelming, marked by a desire for control and a deep, almost obsessive need to possess the partner. The refrain “My love you can’t escape, Cause you’re mine” underlines this.
A retro 80s design is employed to make the soundscape realistic. I fancy the inclusion of horror film touches in the production as well. The vocals are dreamy, so they establish the best possible contrast.
Jeans pulls out all the stops again. You’re Mine has it all. Check it out below!
