Irish composer and producer Seamus O’Muineachain releases his new album, Liminality. I find it fascinating how each song lets me escape to another place. Beautiful textures take charge and shape the world around you. It’s as if you’re seeing everything through VR. Yes, Liminality takes an original approach.
There are a few tracks that I consider favorites. Cinnamon, where synths, piano, and strings bring comfort, is one of them. Between the Bridges sounds also stunning with its atmospheric ambiance and guitar framework. Oceans prompts me to imagine myself on the beach during a rainy day, watching the waves surf past me. It’s emotional, but just as peaceful. Same applies for Still Smouldering. In this case, I imagined myself on a mountaintop.
O’Muineachain usually keeps things minimal, but it works. Why? He really emphasizes the nature of music. Nothing compares to that. Liminality is a neat project, replete with subtle touches that glow like fireflies.
