Lauren Reiner is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who brings nostalgia back to pop. She releases her new single, Ex’s Ex. It tells the story of two women who find common ground and a potential friendship through their shared experience of being romantically involved with the same person, one as an ex and the other as the ex’s ex.
The production holds its own thanks to the layered, punchy guitars. I fancy the vocals, as they’re powerful, but not harsh, which contributes to the catchy quality. The chorus, of course, works brilliantly.
Reiner doesn’t complicate things musically, but does so lyrically, and this results in an excellent balance. The best songs are those that make you think. Check out Ex’s Ex below!
