London-based Canadian singer Renon is a self-proclaimed emo jazzy popstar. She shares her new single, Dizzy. It explores the idea of pushing boundaries to the breaking point, depicting the ephemeral glamour of a carefree lifestyle before it spirals into chaos. With lyrics like, “I’m losing control…I feel like someone I’m not”, the song discloses a more vulnerable and specific side to Renon’s lyricism.
As a means of accompanying the themes of depression and trauma, Renon uses hard-hitting beats that sparkle with sadness. The vocals are as real as those of Billie Eilish and Melanie Martinez. I like the different nuances during the chorus.
