Tamar Berk has been playing in bands in Chicago, Portland and San Diego since the mid-90s. She releases Good Impression as the lead single from her debut album Good Times for a Change. It features solid rock-inspired instrumentals that don’t get overly byzantine, so the melody withholds its precision. I love the chorus, it’s got an extra punch. The vocals sound consistent uninterruptedly.
The lyrics are heartfelt, for sure. Tamar speaks about questionable self-confidence and the desire to break free of collective expectations. There’s a fascinating exploration going on here.
With Good Impression, Tamar infuses truthfulness into the aura she gives off. Plus, she shows her creativity through a larger context. Check out the song below!
