In its metaphorical sense, snow queen implies that true happiness comes from within – an important realization that Laurel Smith was beginning to grasp at the time she wrote the song’s lyrics.
The icy pads and mellowed out Koto plucks lead you to the snow queen’s isolated realm, where the biting cold mirrors her inner emptiness. Yet there’s a tinge of hope that one day she’ll discover the key to genuine joy lies not in possessions, but in finding peace.
