Singer/songwriter Kate Kristine wrote the architect with her good friend Camden Nicole during their first week at Belmont University, and it has come to represent her journey up until this point. She approached Camden with the idea of “vertigo” (fear of heights), and it blossomed into this beautiful song.
The lyrics’ core message is that nobody can build your ceilings but you. Only you have the power to define the limits of your own potential and shape the course of your destiny. Others may try to mold you or impose their own narratives, but at the end of the day, you have the final say.
The acoustic guitar melodies in this track are just so slick, like warm butter melting. Then these beautiful string arrangements come in as an extra layer, giving the whole thing such a sentimental, emotional vibe. And the vocals are incredible – the way they unfold and soars is really something special.
