Salwa is an independent Lebanese-Canadian artist based in Ottawa. She drops her new single, Faraway. When I heard it for the first time, I was utterly surprised. The song’s melodic core appeals strongly to me. For example, the guitar playing hits just the correct note. Delicate synths are stacked on top of that. The drums complete the production. The vocals vocals are convincing, and plenty of emotion emanates from them.
Salwa shares in this song how she feels suspended between reality and dreams, longing for someone who makes her feel real and human. As she uses poetic metaphors, it becomes obvious she has already encountered this special person, but they have since disappeared.
