I consider Magz to be one of the best pop artists around right now. She always communicates what she thinks in such an open and honest manner. Through her new EP, This Won’t Be Pretty, she gets to the core of your soul so fast. It’s all starts with You First, where the acoustic guitar weaves in magic. The lyrics are direct and show that not every relationship ends happily. Magz simply doesn’t feel like cleaning up the other person’s mess anymore. She delivers the truth.
Sugar in my Coffee sounds good too. Magz begins by saying that she dislikes the taste of sugar in coffee, which partly explains the title. But it’s also about being alone and how it can give you strength. Disappoint Me remains a winner. The lyrics focus on standing up for yourself when someone you love treats you badly. You certainly shouldn’t be affected by it. Musically the song is sharp. Aspects like the electric guitar really contribute to the gritty feeling.
