Norway singer-songwriter Maylen Rusti releases her new single, Ambisiøs. It tells the story of someone who is caught in a relationship where their partner desires them intensely, wanting to have them all to themselves. However, the person feels uncertain and conflicted because, deep down, they have a strong desire for independence and ambition. They recognize their longing to explore life on their own terms and pursue their dreams, which makes them question whether they truly want to be in the relationship.
Ambisiøs has a cool pop sound. I immediately loved the synths, because they provide direction and make you lose yourself under neon lights. During the chorus, there’s more pressure and the entire background dances. Towards the end, you’ll also hear a guitar solo. The vocals are powerful in the way they bounce back and forth.
