Canadian singer-songwriter vera releases her new single, rose garden. It tells the story of finding yourself in a troubled relationship. The person you love is beset by inner demons that continually lead them to act against you, yet you remain devoted to the belief that your warmth can heal them. You refuse to acknowledge the signs that the relationship cannot be fixed.
In rose garden, vera pays homage to some musical influences close to her heart. She cites artists like Holly Humberstone, beabadoobee, and Maisie Peters as inspirations, giving the song an indie pop tinge reminiscent of their work. While still retaining her signature style, vera also takes her sound in a slightly grittier direction with this one. As an enthusiast, I recognize her ongoing growth and experimental practices.
