Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Mia Loucks has released a new EP, Light It Can Blind You. Its title track was written about her occasional fear of fully accepting reality. Loucks acknowledges knowing that light and happiness last only temporarily, as they’re always followed by periods of darkness before a ray of hope returns again. Two other tracks on the EP, Alive and Ricochet, also explore thoughtful themes of self-reflection and inner strength in the face of life’s complexities.
While the themes that Loucks tackles are indeed quite weighty subjects, the productions have a quality of being easy-going and avoid coming across as heavy-handed or preachy. Loucks seems to have a special gift for translating complex philosophical notions into appealing music musical forms.
With softly layered vocals and creative instrumentation, the EP invites you to join Loucks in pondering life’s deeper questions. Check it out below!
