Clara Zimm’s song Rendezvous takes inspiration from old school R&B and jazz hop styles of music popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s. With soulful drums and silky guitar riffs, Rendezvous mirrors passion.
In the song, Clara reflects on the intimacy she once shared with someone special, which ended because of outside factors. Now, months have passed and they’ve both gone their separate ways, but the chemistry and attraction between them is still there. The lyrics describe taking a risk to meet in secret just for one night, to get lost in each other’s arms and forget about everything else, if only for a few stolen hours.
While the song tackles the lust, longing, and memories of past romance, it also acknowledges the uncertainty of the future after this rendezvous is over. This can really complicate your feelings, as you can imagine. Clara clearly states this point.
