Norway singer-songwriter JOA releases Let Go. The song finds her questioning whether her ex will miss her once they’ve gone their separate ways, with lines like “When you’re gone, are you even gonna miss me?” emphasizing this. But eventually she comes to terms with the fact that it’s simply time to let go of the past, singing “This story is starting to get old, I’m trying to let it go.” Basically, Let Go taps into the theme of accepting that a relationship has run its course and it’s okay to choose for yourself.
The production of Let Go rocks. I love how the guitar playing makes the melody seem to go on an adventure. Subtle strings enter the mix without overpowering JOA’s vulnerable performance. It makes you feel her emotion to the fullest.
Beneath the surface of the beautifully composed sonic ambiance, Let Go reveals additional layers with each listen. It’s the kind of song I can picture enjoying just as much alone with headphones as with friends on a long drive. Check it out below!
