meka is the guise of American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Melissa Lingo. She releases her new single, Temperance. Its lyrics describe a journey down the I-5 freeway in the early morning rain. meka is reminiscing about memories tied to specific scents and sensations like lilac, gin, honey, and dirt.
Temperance got that classic nostalgic sun-kissed California sound, all warm and sunny, but with this undercurrent of melancholy that really grips you. The bass and piano lay down a smooth groove, while these gorgeous string arrangements just elevate the whole thing. And meka’s vocals? Sublime on all levels!
