Hana Lili’s new single Taking Care Of Myself leads us on an introspective route, grappling with the age-old question: am I truly taking care of myself? One of the most memorable lines, “Pick myself apart like thread from a fraying sweater,” accurately summarizes the feelings of self-doubt and intense self-reflection that can consume us. Lili paints a dynamic scene of meticulously unraveling all the threads of her being, until she’s left with nothing.
The song truly teaches us that it’s okay, even necessary, to take that step back. Sometimes we need to let everything fall apart so we can rebuild from the ground up, shedding what no longer serves us and remaking ourselves from the inside out.
Taking Care Of Myself starts off pretty chill. Just a gentle acoustic guitar and string accompaniment ignite the vibe. But then towards the end, oh my, it really kicks into high gear! The drums come in blazing, taking the whole sound to another levels. And the vocals mesh very well with that backdrop, keeping everything nicely tied together.
