Norwegian singer-songwriter SIKADE releases her new single, vermilion. It’s like a fever dream, weaving together fragments of obsession, getting messed up, and things falling apart – all tied together by the symbolism of this gorgeous but poisonous red pigment. The lyrics crawl slowly under your skin.
The music itself is a hypnotic flood of swirling harp arpeggios, brushed acoustic guitar, cinematic strings, and ethereal vocals. You can hear influences from avant-garde artists like Björk, Soap&Skin, and Agnes Obel in the way SIKADE approaches alt-pop.
SIKADE does things according to her own rules. She deserves praise for that. Check out vermilion below!
