German-based audiovisual artist Liza Dries likes to experiment with music. She starts 2025 in style with the release of her sophomore single Underwater. The lyrics have a substantial emotional impact by talking about mourning the loss of a certain self while mourning the loss of another. But there’s also something empowering about them. Liza believes that this type of situation can actually help you grow.
Layered with elements like dreamy guitars, Underwater sounds fantastic. You can completely soak yourself in a musical bath. Liza’s manipulated vocals sparkle within the futuristic arrangements, providing a dynamic lead.
Underwater has been Liza’s favorite song to perform live, as it has often brought her to tears on stage. She elaborates, “It feels silly to sing out loud that you can make flowers grow faster, but when you don’t feel that way at all, it creates a strange distance between what you’re expressing and what you actually feel.”
