Makena comments: “This song came from a real place of contradiction,. “Every weekend, I’m surrounded by these beautiful, fairy-tale moments, but my own history made it hard to believe in them. Writing this was like finding clarity in the chaos—realizing it’s okay to be skeptical and hopeful at the same time.”
i work weddings falls under the salty bitch pop category. A genre Makena invented on her own. The song’s sound is definitely innovative. It balances a bittersweet tone with moments of sweetness and vulnerability.
