Greek-Canadian artist Mandia hits the right vibe on her new EP, Sapphire. I’m honestly surprised by how good it sounds and how it brings together the best of R&B. Be real, it’s a brilliant move to update nostalgia with what’s hot right now.
As you can tell from my writing, I’m extremely enthusiastic. So let’s examine each tune from this EP in detail, ’cause they’re worth the listen.
Boy Bye is the opener here and resembles Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande’s style. I love the stardust effect formed by the vocals flying over the textured production. You could even call it ‘magical’. The lyrics are about saying goodbye to someone who no longer serves you. Rather than letting them get closer, you point them toward the door. Mandia isn’t afraid to take the initiative and empowers herself and other women.
Yours 2 Keep continues to foster confidence-building. It explores self-love and embracing individuality. The production bounces around like a wave that wants to go over on the beach, but decides to return. I love the dynamic energy of the chorus, super vibey stuff.
Selling Dreams ends the project successfully. For me, it’s the best sounding track. Why? Well, mainly because of the melodic progression, which makes this totally legendary. It creates the right flow for the vocals and sassy lines to lean on. The song talks about how Mandia doesn’t fall for those who sell dreams. For this reason, she repeatedly asks them, ‘what do you mean?”, as she’s confused by their actions.
Mandia has so much talent and is someone interesting to follow. She knows how to establish a strong reputation for herself. After hearing Sapphire, you’ll be an instant fan. Check it out below!
