pda is a heartfelt song for anyone in love. Rose Bassett wrote it after a deep talk with her partner of six years. They discussed the challenges of personal growth and staying true to yourself in a long-term relationship.
The opening lyrics capture the feeling of replaying past conversations over and over in your mind. But the song also explores Rose’s broader thoughts on her identity and where she fits in. She says, “I wanted to keep it real – long-term relationships are amazing, but also difficult. Especially in your twenties, it can be hard to balance growing as an individual while growing together as a couple. Writing pda felt like a release. It was like pouring all those vulnerable feelings straight into the track.”
The song starts off all chill and mellow, but then it just keeps building and building until the whole thing is blasting at full volume. I’m really enjoying that gradual rise in energy. And can we talk about those vocals for a sec? They sound absolutely phenomenal.
