After moving halfway across the world for love, only to be blindsided by the unraveling of that relationship, aloe found herself in emotional freefall. Struggling to articulate the intensity of her heartbreak, she stumbled on a phrase that neatly summarized everything: “It’s like pulling teeth, with only bathroom tweezers.” That line became the emotional anchor of pulling teeth, aloe’s newest and perhaps most personal release to date.
A bold new sound has been introduced with this song, entirely self-produced. It pulses with distorted basslines, chopped and layered vocals warped by pitch and formant shifts.
Mixing duties of this song were handled by Jason Petrin, whose nuanced touch helped bring shape to the dense sonic textures. The track was then mastered to perfection by Alexander Wright, adding the final sheen without sacrificing the grit.
