London-based artist Gayaneh returns with Ache, a darkly playful and emotionally layered pop track that reverses romantic longing. What first seems like a tender ballad about unrequited love soon reveals something far more complex and unsettling.
“Sometimes you can’t trust the person telling you a story,” Gayaneh explains. “I wrote ‘Ache to strip the ground from under the listener.” And she does just that.
The song follows the story of a woman pining after a stranger, but as the lyrics unfold, it becomes clear that her obsession may be deeper than she lets on. The line between sympathy and suspicion blurs, leading you to question who this girl really is.
