London-based synth-pop sensation I Am Boleyn celebrates the birth of a new era with her highly anticipated debut album, Voyager. And instead of cutting down to just nine or ten tracks, she has fifteen to offer. Quite a few, indeed. However, they all sound phenomenal, so don’t worry. Really! This project is free of any shortcomings. It’s everything Boleyn promised.
One of my favorites here happens to be Girl Like Me, which circles around the unlikely love affair between an alien queen and a human. I l-o-v-e its sci-fi flair. Another bop on the project has been dubbed Diving In The Dark. It uses some impressive futuristic audio design that will make you imagine you’re in the middle of the galaxy. Say Something also speaks to me, simply because I find it so catchy. The Another Me remix by Martin Brothers is the tune I turn to most frequently. It balances between dreaminess and upbeatness.
Last but by no means least, I want to mention Taxi, the lead single. It talks about being drunk in the back seat of (unsurprisingly) a taxi, maneuvering your way to the person you shouldn’t see. The production’s tone reflects the tension that can be felt in such a situation well.
Boleyn continues doing what she wants. Voyager shows devoted productivity and never feels rushed. Just a good collection of music. Start listening below!
