Blue Monkey is less a reinvention and more a homecoming. In the title track of her debut album Ageless, she reflects on how, at every age, we’re always looking ahead: waiting to turn 21, dreaming of a house, or trying to become the “perfect” adult. But each time we reach a new milestone, it doesn’t feel as satisfying as we hoped. Instead, we feel like time is passing us by.
I love the production of this song, because even though it’s sparse, it still makes an impact. The vocals are powerful, expressing as much emotion as they can.
