Every summer needs a soundtrack. Preferably something that glows with synths, shouts self-love, and gives you full permission to cry in the club and dance on the way out. Fortunately, this year, Gina Zo’s I Need to Cry succeeds in delivering all of it.
With co-writing credits from Grammy-winning producers Tim Sonnefeld and Justin Miller, the track impresses. Its sound feels like 80s disco had a love child with modern queer pop. The lyrics are about overcoming your breakdowns, turning vulnerability into volume, and reclaiming the messy, magical parts of being human.
