Sarah Carey brings an authentic farm-girl spirit to Australia’s country music scene. She recently released her new single, If You Have a Daughter. It attempts to weigh the beliefs that everything happens for a reason and sometimes things fail to work out. The chorus line “I pray your daughter is treated better than I was treated” cuts through the noise and touches the heart.
If You Have a Daughter sounds far from standard. I’m enchanted by the acoustic guitar’s unique melodic progression. The vocals sound heartfelt, and they maintain the right level of momentum throughout.
