katrina sotera is a Filipinx & Costa Rican-American alternative R&B singer-songwriter from Queens, NY. She releases her new single, Don’t Cry. The song’s lyrics are about pretending you’re totally over that one disastrous date, and kind of, accidentally, actually getting over it. They tumble through denial, self-pep talks, and a few too-real moments of reflection before landing in full-blown confidence.
I love the production here. Its grooves make you sway even while you’re laughing at your own overthinking. It’s nostalgic without being dated. The vocals sound unique, with just the right amount of momentum.
