We need to talk about Zara Larsson’s newest album, Midnight Sun. Even though it’s packed with bangers, there isn’t enough recognition for it. And that’s a shame, in my opinion. With only 10 tracks, the project avoids fillers, plus the overall quality is excellent.
Zara says she wanted Midnight Sun to feel like a summer night that never ends. She elaborates: ”It is very upbeat and it is very fun, but there’s also some introspective moments…Because … it was a lot of things that happened in my brain. Like, turning 27, I really feel like … somebody threw a cold glass of water in my face, and I just realized a lot of things about myself, about just life in general”.
My favorite tune has to be Blue Moon, which is the one that relies heavily on glitchy textures. But Pretty Ugly sounds fantastic too. Damn, its chorus has been stuck in my head all day. Someone needs to get it out. Other notable tunes are Crush and Puss Puss, which make you want to celebrate life (preferably with someone else).
Zara is on the same creative level as Tate McRae or Sabrina Carpenter. She always knows how to put her own spin on music trends. Check out Midnight Sun below!
