Alison Albrecht consistently captures audiences from living rooms to music halls with her compelling blend of pop, folk, and soul. She recently dropped You Take. It talks about the trenches of a toxic relationship. My favorite passage is: ”Sleepless in the city / Decaying from within / An arrow in my back / But no one sees that I’m bleeding”. It comes across as both beautifully poetic and unflinchingly honest.
You Take has brilliant production. I specifically adore the guitar work, which sounds catchy. The vocal layers blend wonderfully with the overall sound, giving them a distinct presence.
