Sarah Durbin takes Personal Jesus (original by DEPECHE MODE) for a joyride through a modern alt-rock soundscape, swapping out reverence for raw electricity. Backed by a full band that sounds like they’re feeding off each other’s energy in real time, the cover pulses with grit and momentum. It’s loud, alive, and unapologetically hands-on, proof that real instruments still know how to cause a little trouble.
Then there’s Durbin’s vocal, floating in amid all that muscle. Breathier and more intimate than you expect, it adds a sly emotional undercurrent that keeps the track from turning into a straight-up stomp.
